The first crude oil tanker was scheduled to arrive in Guyanese waters before lunch today to take out the first million barrels of oil.
Under existing arrangements, ExxonMobil is entitled to the so-called first lift of oil.
“The first tanker of crude oil from the Liza field will begin loading this weekend,” Janelle Persaud, Public and Government Affairs Advisor with Exxon Mobil’s local subsidiary stated.
“As we have previously indicated, ExxonMobil will process the initial cargo in its own refining system,” she added.
The oil tanker, Yannis P, built in 2010 is sailing under the flag of Marshall Is. The tanker has a carrying capacity of 158149 t DWT (deadweight tonnage).
Oil production officially began on December 20, and is stored on the Liza Destiny ship before it is transferred to the tankers taking it to the destination of the buyers.
