Two men who were reportedly caught with $12.9M worth in cocaine and cannabis were remanded to prison on Monday by City Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus for drug trafficking.

Christopher Garraway, a 45-year-old bartender was charged jointly with Randy Chester, a 24-year-old porter with having 22 kilograms of marijuana and 2.740 kilograms of cocaine in their possession on January 16, 2020, at the John Fernandes Container Terminal.

The duo pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The court heard that ranks from the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) intercepted a truck at John Fernandes Container Terminal which was packed with bags of fertiliser destined for Berbice.

The truck was searched and 40 parcels of marijuana and two parcels of cocaine were found in two white salt bags.

CANU Prosecutor Konyo Sandiford objected to bail and the men were remanded to prison until January 29, 2020.
