Charlotte street man back in court for trafficking drugs, remanded to prison

A 27-year-old Charlotte Street, Georgetown resident was on Friday remanded to prison by City Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs for trafficking narcotics.

Edgar Lawson pleaded not guilty to the charge which alleged that January 22, 2020, at Charlotte Street, he had 19 grams of cocaine and 28 grams of cannabis in his possession  for trafficking purposes.

According to reports, the police acted on a ‘tip-off’ and went to Lawson’s home and saw him with a black bag.

Upon seeing the police, it is alleged that Lawson tried discarding the bag and escaping.

However, he was nabbed by the police and the narcotics was found in the bag

Lawson, who has a similar matter before the court, was remanded until January 31,2020.

In March 2019, Lawson and his 52-year-old mother were slapped with two drug trafficking charges.

It was alleged that on February 25,2019, at Charlotte Street, the duo had 132 grams of cannabis and 33 grams of cocaine for trafficking.   The drugs were found in the family home.
