A 25-year-old taxi driver was on Friday remanded to prison by City Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus for gun possession.
Terrence Primo of 14th Avenue, Diamond, East Bank Demerara pleaded not guilty to the charge which alleged that on January 22, 2020 at Leopold Street, Charlestown, Georgetown he had a .38 revolver in his possession without being the holder of a firearm license.
According to reports, on the day in question ranks on mobile patrol along Leopold Street saw Primo acting in a strange manner while seated in a parked vehicle between Smyth and Breda Streets.
The ranks approached Primo and requested to conduct a search on him and the vehicle.
Nothing was found on his person but the gun was found under the driver’s seat of the car
When told of the allegation, he begged the police for a second chance and apologised.
Nevertheless, he was arrested and charged. He was remanded to prison until January 31.
