Young GDF rank killed in accident

A 20-year-old Private of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) lost his life Wednesday night after crashing his motorcycle head-on into a car on the Capoey Public Road, Essequibo Coast.

Dead is Misteno Thomas of Middle Road, Buxton, East Coast Demerara.

Police Headquarters revealed that Thomas was on motorcycle CK 1172 and was speeding south along the eastern side of the road at around 23:20hrs when he lost control and ended up in the path of motorcar HB 7499 which was on the western side of the road.

According to the Police report, the front of the motorcycle collided with the front right side of the car.

The impact flung Thomas into the air after which he landed on the front right-side window screen of the car and the fell on the roadway.

The GDF rank received severe injuries to his head and body; he was picked up in an unconscious condition by passersby and transported by a Police vehicle to the Suddie Hospital where he later died while receiving treatment.

His body is presently at the Suddie Mortuary awaiting Post-Mortem Examination with dissection.

The driver of the car did not test positive for alcohol on his breath.
