A 29-year-old motorcyclist died Saturday night after he was struck down by a truck with license number GXX 3989, on the Providence Public Road, East Bank Demerara.

Dead is Everton Bradford Charles of Subryanville, Georgetown.

Regional Commander, Senior Superintendent, Kurleigh Simon told the News Room the accident occurred at about 19:30hrs.

Both the motorcycle and the truck were proceeding south on the eastern carriageway when the accident occurred.

The News Room understands that Charles was left lying motionless on the road while the truck driver sped away from the scene.

Commander Simon said the driver was arrested Sunday on the Soesdyke Linden Highway. He is in custody assisting with the investigation.

“We are having sketchy information because he was arrested today [Sunday] on the Linden Highway, he said he stopped but he didn’t see anything so he jumped back in his truck,” Commander Simon said.

Charles was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
