A 30-year-old Wismar, Linden resident was on Tuesday remanded to prison by the Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan on a drug trafficking charge.
Murphy Scotland denied that on January 31, 2020, at Pappy Show Landing Mazaruni River he had 65 grams (2.2 ounces) of cannabis in his possession for the purpose of trafficking.
The News Room understands that on the day in question, a party of policemen were on patrol duty conducting a search in an unfinished building where Scotland was an occupant.
The court heard that the cops found the drugs inside a brown hat and concealed in a black plastic bag in Scotland’s room.
The Chief Magistrate remanded Scotland to prison until February 21 when he will appear at the Bartica Magistrate’s Court.
