MVP Sports confirms alliance with Guyana Fitness Games

MVP Sports has confirmed its alliance with Guyana Fitness Games, the organising body for the sixth annual Kares Caribbean Fitness Challenge, set for Sunday (February 9) at the National Park Tarmac.

Representatives of MVP Sports, the athletic footwear and apparel store located at Giftland Mall, made the company’s contribution to the event to officials of Guyana Fitness Games on Friday.

Ian Ramdeo, the Managing Director of the store, said his company is proud to be associated with the event.

“We recognise the importance of organisations like the Guyana Fitness Games providing opportunities for our local athletes to perform and venture on to represent us on the international sports arena, and as such are happy to support their combined efforts. We look forward to this Sunday’s event and continuing support of the organisation and the sport in the future.”

Jordana Ramsay-Gonsalves of Guyana Fitness Games said it is corporate entities like MVP Sports that keep the wheels of the event moving, thereby creating an opportunity and platform for the country’s fittest to test their mettle.

Ramsay-Gonsalves welcomed Ramdeo and his team onboard the 2020 event, noting that Guyana Fitness Games is looking forward to a long-standing relationship that would be mutually beneficial to both parties.

Lucrative event

The champion athlete will pocket $500,000, while second to fifth will be rewarded with $400,000, $300,000, $200,000 and $100,000 respectively.

Every athlete will be given a participation award of $15,000, compliments of Kares Engineering and Lotus Hardware. Athletes over the age of 30 will be given $100,000 (first), $50,000 (second) and $30,000 (third).

Additionally, 15 teens will battle in the Under-17 category. The top three teen athletes will receive $30,000, $25,000 and $20,000 respectively.

Tickets, costing G$1,000 each, are on sale at Kares CrossFit, Genesis Fitness Gym on Durban Street and Fitness Express on Sheriff Street. Children under 10 will be admitted free.

Guyana Fitness Games, the organizing body of the event, expresses gratitude for the continued support of Lotus Hardware, ANSA McAL Trading through its iCool Water and Lucozade brands, MVP Sports, Berkinstock Guyana, Pollo Tropical, Star Party Rentals and St. Joseph Mercy Hospital.

The first event will be held at 06:00h, but the crowd attraction events start at 13:00h.
