Azar Deen’s unbeaten 48 led McGill Super Stars Sports Club to an 80-run victory in their opening match of the West Demerara Cricket Association T20 tournament on Sunday at Belle Vue Sports Club Ground.
Deen’s knock took McGill to 150-5 in the reduced 15 overs per side contest; Christ Ambassadors Sports Club came up way short at 70-6.
Former national youth player Daniel Basdeo was next best for McGill with 27, while Adul Razack (23) and Travis Persaud (13) were the other main scorers.
Kevin Paul produce a tidy spell of 2-17 from three overs, while Emmanuel Martin had 1-16 from his three overs. In response, Jay Benit (22) and Selwyn John (19) propped them up to their final score when the overs expired.
Deen took 2-10 from two overs with support from Keshram Seyhodan (2-22) and Daniel Basdeo (1-4) from three overs.
