The Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) and the Ministry of Public Health on Thursday stated that no case of the coronavirus has been reported in Guyana.

“…no patient has been diagnosed with the virus throughout the country,” the GPHC and the Ministry said in a statement.

The Ministry said it will give a full report on Guyana’s preparedness on Friday.

The statement followed concerns of nurses at the Port Mourant Hospital; the concerns of the nurses were posted on Facebook. They feared that someone with the virus was transferred from the GPHC to the Port Mourant Hospital.

But the GPHC and the Ministry said the report was “malicious and false” and that “there has been no case of the coronavirus at the GPHC.”

Further, no person has been treated at the facility for the virus nor has anyone been transferred from GPHC with coronavirus.

The Ministry said it has lodged a complaint with the Commissioner of Police about the false report on social media.
