Enmore and Lusignan to contest Banks Beer 100-ball final on Sunday


The 2019 Banks Beer 100-Ball competition for teams on the East Coast of Demerara will finally come to an end on Sunday (February 16) when home team Enmore and the visiting Lusignan side go head-to-head in the final.

The two teams booked their places in the championship game after convincing wins at the semi-finals last weekend.

Enmore maximised on home advantage to defeat Strathavon by 61 runs, while Lusignan Sports Club got the better of Lusignan East by eight wickets.

The final on Sunday would be played under floodlights at Enmore and will be contested after matches between Enmore Masters and Floodlights and the third place match-up between Lusignan East and Strathavon.

The East Coast Cricket Committee’s 2019 presentation and awards ceremony will also be held before the final game as all matches for the 2019 season will be completed this weekend.

In the semi-final, Enmore made 145-7 with Imran Hassan making 61, Vishwanauth Ramlakhan 27 and Bheemraj Ramkellawan 23. M. Ronald took 4-34 for Strathavon, who were dismissed for 84 in the final over.

Spinners Chaitram Balgobin and Satesh Jainarine had two wickets each for Enmore.

In the other game, Lusignan East managed 96 with T. Persaud getting 33 and K. Amsterdam 21. Vickram Doodnauth, Chanderpaul Ramraj, Vishnu Ramjeet and Robin Williams all had two wickets each for Lusignan Sports Club, who knocked off the target quite easily with Williams making 64 not out and Ramjeet an unbeaten 25.

Lusignan: Shazam Ali (Captain), Rajpaul Basdeo, Robin Williams, Vishnu Ramjeet, Gavin Boodwah, Kumar Bishundial, Azad Mohamed, Vickram Doodnauth, Chanderpaul Ramraj, Somnauth Bharrat, Steve Ramdass, Jadesh Dowlatram and Deokarran Kumar.

Apart from the on-field play, there will be side attractions to keep fans entertained throughout the day. Admission to the venue is free.
