Sex worker charged for assaulting Police

A 21-year-old male sex worker was on Friday charged before City Magistrate Leron Daly for assaulting a police officer at the Alberttown Police Station.

Denzil Benjamin of Norton Street, Lodge, Georgetown pleaded not guilty to the charge which alleged that on February 11, 2020, at the Alberttown Police Station, he unlawfully assaulted Police Constable Narine to cause actual bodily harm.

According to police prosecutor Christopher Morris, on the day in question, Benjamin was arrested and taken to the Alberttown Police Station for assault and other offences.

It was alleged that while at the station Benjamin kicked Constable Narine and attempted to escape.

However, the officer managed to grab Benjamin by his foot and rearrested him.

The Magistrate released Benjamin on $15,000 bail and adjourned the case until February 21, 2020.
