Budding star Louis DaSilva upstaged the usually prolific Ashley Khalil when the Bounty Farm Handicap Squash tournament continued Thursday evening at the Georgetown Club.

The young talent had the advantage of a handicap of 10 as compared to Khalil’s -7, and what on face value seemed a walk in the park for Khalil, turned out to be the biggest upset of the night, as she lost 0-2.

DaSilva rallied hard and took the first set 15-3 and then showed great resolve to withstand the pressure to win 15-13.

An ecstatic DaSilva noted how happy he was to topple the calibre of Khalil and says he is inspired to go on and win the title.

Robin Lowe (left) and Lloyd Fung-A-Fat had an exciting match

Another shocker occurred when Caribbean Under-15 champion Kirsten Gomes went down to Brian Gomes (9) 15-13 and 15-9, while the aged legs of Lloyd Fung-A-Fat and Robin Lowe produced an exciting duel with Fung-A-Fat winning 15-7 and 15-11.

In other results, Rayad Boyce (5) had to call on all his reserves to overcome Tiana Gomes (13) 15-13, 5-15, 15-14 and in a battle between the two Fernandes siblings, Grant (10) beat Beau (7) 15-7, 15-14.

Lajuan Munroe (2) again had another match go down to the wire as he defeated Nathan Rahaman (5) 15-9, 12-15, 15-14 and in the last of the quarter-final matches Dhiren Persaud (3) beat Kassie Walcott (13) 15-12, 15-12.

The competition will wrap up on Sunday and action starts at 11:00h.
