Parika resident killed in accident

A 37-year-old resident of Parika, East Bank Essequibo died at the Georgetown Public Hospital hours after his motorcycle collided with a car in the wee hours of Saturday on the De Kinderen Public Road, West Coast Demerara (WCD).

Dead is Veyjai Idrogo who worked as a food delivery man with the Medina Restaurant; he was riding motorcycle CJ 4777. Police Headquarters in a statement noted that the accident occurred at about 03:00hrs.

Police said that the 39-year-old driver of the car PWW 4677 of Leonora WCD claimed that he was proceeding west along the southern side of the road negotiating a turn when the motorcycle crashed into him.

The motorcyclist sustained injuries about his body and was taken to the Leonora Cottage Hospital in a semi-conscious condition where he was treated and subsequently transferred to the West Demerara Regional Hospital.

He was then transferred to GPHC where he later died.

A post-mortem is expected to be conducted on Wednesday. The driver of the passed a breathalyzer test and was released on station bail.
