A 26-year-old security guard was released on $150,000 bail by the Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan after he was charged with the rape of a 14-year-old girl.

Esmund Adams of Wortmanville, Georgetown was not required to plead to the charge which alleged that between December 1-31, 2018, he engaged in sexual penetration with a child under the age of 16.

The matter was held in camera and Adams was not required to plea to the charge; he is slated to return to court on February 25, 2020.

The court heard that after committing the act, Adams allegedly took the child to a house on the West Coast of Demerara where she stayed for several days.

Her father eventually found her and took her home while Adams was arrested by Police in December 2019 after he visited the Eve Leary Headquarters for a Police clearance.
