Passengers stuck at CJIA as Copa Pilot falls ill

Copa Airlines on Tuesday morning cancelled a flight from the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA) after its Pilot became ill, leaving 54 passengers stranded at the airport.

A usually reliable source at the CJIA told the News Room that the Pilot arrived in Guyana but had to return to Panama, where Copa is based, as a result of his illness.

The News Room understands that the flight which was scheduled to leave Guyana at 3:00hrs will now depart at 14:50hrs.

One of the passengers, who was affected said persons checked into the airport since midnight and was only told at 04:00hrs that the flight was delayed.  The aggrieved passenger said there are many children and elderly persons who are affected.

According to the woman, persons were told that two crew members fell ill with aches about their body and were awaiting a doctor from Georgetown before they decided to return to Panama.
