Castrol Strikers make clean sweep of Lennox Shuffler Volleyball tournament

Castrol Strikers made a clean sweep of the Lennox Shuffler Volleyball tournament last weekend, winning both the male and female segments at the National Gymnasium, Mandela Avenue.

In the male competition, Castrol Strikers defeated Port Mourant Training Centre 2-1 in the final. Strikers drew first blood 25-15, before Port Mourant drew level with a 25-22 success. In the decider, Strikers prevailed 15-13.

Strikers booked their place in the final after defeating Achievers in the semi-final, while Port Mourant got the better of Rollers. Vance Harding was adjudged the Most Valuable Player of the male competition.

On the female side, Castrol Strikers defeated Classic Ball Blasters 25-19, 25-21 in the final with Hannah Hicks claiming the Most Valuable Player prize.

In the round-robin phase, Castrol Strikers prevailed 30-19 over Classic Ball Blasters; Classic Ball Blasters defeated Port Mourant Training Centre 30-17; and Castrol Strikers pipped Port Mourant Training Centre 31-29.

The tournament was coordinated by the Guyana Volleyball Federation and held in honour of Lennox Shuffer, a former national player and ex-president of the Federation.
