A head-on collision between a car PMM 2260 and a motorcycle CJ 4350 on the Adventure Public Road, Essequibo Coast on Sunday night resulted in the death of 35-year-old Suresh Arjune, a resident of Adventure, Essequibo Coast.
Police Headquarters revealed that the driver of the car, whose blood alcohol level was “exceedingly” above the legal limit, was proceeding south along the road negotiating a left bend when the motorcycle, which was proceeding in the opposite direction collided with the left side of the car.
The driver of the car alleged that Arjune was speeding and his motorcycle did not have lights when the accident occurred at around 20:50hrs.
Police said that Arjune pitched off his motorcycle and sustained severe injuries to the head and body.
He was taken to the Suddie Public Hospital in an unconscious state and was pronounced dead on arrival. The body is at the hospital’s mortuary awaiting a post mortem examination.
The driver of the car is in custody assisting with the investigation.
