Fifteen-year-old Guyanese boxer Alesha Jackman won gold at the Ronald Wilson Memorial Tournament in Barbados following a convincing points decision victory over Chole Jenkins at the weekend.

Jackman won by unanimous decision to keep her unbeaten international record intact. This was the second overseas outing for Jackman, who also won gold at the Caribbean Championships last December.

Jenkins, a seasoned campaigner, received a standing eight count in the first round of the lightweight encounter.

Guyana Boxing Association President, Steve Ninvalle hailed Jackman’s performance and maintained that his association’s decision to place focus on the nursery of the sport is bearing fruit.

Jackman was accompanied to Barbados by coach Sebert Blake.
