Both Guyana and Mexico have qualified for the next round of the 2020 Women’s Under-20 Championship, thanks to victories in Group D on Tuesday at the Estadio Olimpico Felix Sanchez in Santo Domingo.

The day opened with Guyana fending off a late charge from Puerto Rico to claim a 2-1 win.

A Cristina Roque own goal in the 54’ and an Audrey Narine score in the 81’ put Guyana in control, until Gabrielle Cimino gave the Boricuas hope with a goal in the 88’.

In the end, though, the Golden Jaguars saw things out to claim another three points.

In the second game of the day in the group, Mexico soared past Nicaragua 4-0, lifting their record to 2W-0D-0L in the group.

Goals from Venicia Juarez in the 21’ and Alison Gonzalez in the 29’ gave El Tricolor a 2-0 lead, before scores from Anette Vazquez and Yanin Madrid in the 63’ and 77’, respectively, to close things out.

Group D will wrap up on Thursday with Nicaragua taking on Puerto Rico, while Mexico will clash with Guyana. (Concacaf)
