Roads closed to facilitate GECOM elections preparations

As the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) concludes its final preparations for elections, the streets surrounding the agency’s head office in Kingston, Georgetown have been closed.

According to a statement from the Guyana Police Force, High Street between Cowan & Barrack Streets and Cowan Street between High & Fort Streets have been closed to vehicular traffic from 06:00hrs on February 26, 2020, until further notice.

“This is to facilitate the operations at the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) Command Centre at High and Cowan Streets, Kingston,” the Police said.

The Police said vehicle passes would be issued by GECOM to residents, employees and organisations that are likely to be affected by the closure.

The Guyana Police Force apologizes for any inconvenience caused.
