Mexico finished top of Group D of the 2020 Women’s Under-20 Championship after beating Guyana 3-0 on Thursday. In a clash of two unbeaten teams, it was the Mexicans who grabbed the three points on offer.

Montoya then struck again for her second goal of the day nine minutes later in the 87’ to hand Mexico a commanding 2-0 lead. Mariel Roman Pacheco then capped the day with a goal in the 90+3’ for El Tricolor.

And Puerto Rico are through to the Round of 16, thanks to a 1-0 victory over Nicaragua in their Group D finale on Thursday at the Estadio Olimpico Felix Sanchez in Santo Domingo.

It was a winner-take-all affair between the two teams for the last knockout round spot out of the group, and the decisive strike would come in the 77’, courtesy of Belerica Oquendo.

In the Round of 16, Mexico will meet Grenada, Guyana will take on Cayman Islands and Puerto Rico will clash with Trinidad and Tobago. (Concacaf)
