Milo School Football: Lodge hunting second win; Bishops’ in search of first

The second round of the round-robin stage in the eight Milo School Under-18 Football tournament will kick-off today (Saturday) with Lodge Secondary and Bishops’ High among the teams set to be in action at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.

Former champions and 2019 runners-up Lodge Secondary will play their second match in the tournament and will want to continue to perfect start with another victory.

After topping Ann’s Grove 2-1 in their opening match, Lodge will now face Carmel Secondary from 15:30h.

Saturday’s opening match at noon will pit South Ruimveldt against St. Joseph High, in a match where both sides are searching for their first win.

Annandale, who won their first match 2-0, will face the steamy East Ruimveldt from 13:45h.

On Sunday, St. John’s College will battle Golden Grove from noon followed by Bishops’ High and Tucville from 13:45h.

Bishops’, whose performance in the tournament has improved year after year, are hoping to rebound from a 2-4 loss to Cummings Lodge; Tucville drew their first match 1-1 with Vergenoegen.

Queenstown will hope for better returns when they face New Central High from 15:30h. Central boys have one point, compliments of a draw, but Queenstown lost 0-4 to President’s College.

After 12 matches, the tournament has produced 47 goals.

Teams are battling for a top two spot in their group, while the best four third-place finishers will progress to the Round-of-16.
