Police are on the hunt for a convicted prisoner who escaped from the Mazaruni Prison on Saturday afternoon.

Director of Prisons (ag) Gladwin Samuels in a statement Sunday revealed that  Christopher Punch was signed out to do labour at the farms, attending to animals at around 14:20hrs when he escaped.

The Prison Director said Punch is imprisoned for four counts of “larceny of motorcycle” and is serving four (4) two (2) year sentences, running consecutively.

He also has one count of attempted larceny for which he is sentenced to one-year imprisonment. The one year is running concurrently with one of the two-year sentences.

“An investigative team is en route to the location,” Samuels said.
