Buxton teen killed during family brawl

An 18-year-old labourer of Friendship, Buxton East Coast Demerara died after he was reportedly stabbed by his uncle, who is presently being sought by police.

Dead is Daniel Akeem Amore.

Police Headquarters revealed that the incident occurred at Clyde Roopchand Drive in Buxton at about 21:30hrs on Sunday.

The News Room understands that the 25-year-old suspect is also a labourer.

Two brothers – Haslyn Williams and James Dublin were drinking when an argument ensued which then lead to a fight.

The fight was separated by Dublin’s wife, who is also Amore’s mother. Police said the suspect and Williams are also brothers.

Following the confrontation between Williams and Dublin, the suspect then arrived to defend his brother and confronted Dublin.

Police said the suspect subsequently left and returned with a cutlass and a knife and attacked Dublin.

Dublin’s wife intervened again and was wounded with cuts to her left hand and fingers.

In defence of his mother, Amore then confronted the suspect who dropped his weapons and ran. He was followed by Amore when he reportedly stabbed the teen to his chest.

Amore collapsed and was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
