PCL: Holder boost for Pride ahead of crucial Jaguars showdown

West Indies Test captain Jason Holder has been included in Barbados Pride squad for what could be a tournament-defining match at the National Stadium, Providence, from Thursday.

Holder’s last outing for his home franchise came last season against Jaguars in Bridgetown, however, it was not the best home-coming since the visitors won by six wickets.

The lanky all-rounder, who has played 40 Tests to date, boosts the current table-toppers, who lost to Trinidad and Tobago by 147 runs in their round seven match.

This round eight game is of great significance since a loss for Jaguars could derail their chances of a sixth consecutive title.

Holder’s inclusion means Pride have six active Test players and two others who have played limited overs cricket for West Indies.

There is a strong presumption that Jaguars will be boosted by the return of Shimron Hetmyer, Keemo Paul and Romario Shepherd.

Barbados Pride squad: Kraigg Brathwaite (captain), Shamarh Brooks, Jonathan Cater, Shane Dowrich, Justin Greaves, Keon Harding, Chemar Holder, Jason Holder, Kyle Myers, Shayne Mosley, Ashley Nurse, Kemar Roach, Jomel Warrican.
