Less than 24 hours after it announced that schools will remain open, the Ministry of Education on Friday announced that all schools will be closed for two weeks, effective March 16, 2020.
The decision was made following the first case of the Coronavirus in Guyana which resulted in the death of a 52-year-old Guyanese woman who recently returned home from Queens, New York.
“Additionally, this decision will be reassessed during this period and further guidance will be provided. If you have any concerns please contact the Ministry of Education on 226 – 1175 or the Public Health Hotline on 227-4986 (08:00hrs – 16:00hrs) or 624-3067 (16:30 – 20:00hrs).”
