The Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) says Returning Officer of Region 4, Clairmont Mingo resumed the tabulation of the votes using the Statements of Poll Friday morning in keeping with the ruling of Chief Justice Roxane George.

A statement from GECOM Friday noted that the RO hopes to complete the exercise “within the shortest possible time.”

“In the interest of transparency, the Returning Officer for Region # 4, Mr. Clairmont Mingo has resumed the tabulation exercise this morning (Friday, 13th March, 2020) using the statements of poll. The Returning Officer has decided restart the entire exercise and is hopeful that with the cooperation of those present, the exercise would be completed within the shortest possible time,” GECOM stated.

But reports coming out of the GECOM Command Centre from political party representatives indicate that every SOP read so far has a discrepancy and only matches the copies in possession of the APNU+AFC party agents.

“PPP rep says three boxes are now in discrepancies with votes in excess of over 60 votes for the incumbent in each,” Presidential Candidate of The Citizenship Initiative (TCI) Rae Lam posted on her Facebook page from inside the Command Centre.

She said all the observers and other party representatives objected to this.

“Kit Nascimento says RO Mingo is a disgrace. Incumbent rep tells Nascimento he’s a stinka,” Lam further noted.

Meanwhile, Chairman of Change Guyana, Nigel Hinds left the building as he described the process a “farce.”

“To be in there is to be part of a charade, it’s a circus; it’s an absolute disgrace.”

The foreign Ambassadors have also left the Command Centre.
