Barbados Pride have strengthened their prospects of claiming the West Indies Four-Day Championship after a thumping win over five-time defending champions Guyana Jaguars solidified their position at the top of the points table.

In a crucial round eight game at Providence, a day/night, pink ball encounter, Pride inflicted a 236-run whipping on the Jaguars, dismissing the home side below 100 in both innings.

The win, Pride’s sixth this season, carried them to 134.8 points, way ahead of Trinidad and Tobago Red Force on 94.6.

With the defeat, Jaguars, who started the eighth round in second spot, have slipped to joint third with Jamaica Scorpions on 91.8.

Windward Islands Volcanoes are next on 78 points, followed by Leeward Islands Hurricanes in the cellar position on 52.8 points.

The final two rounds of the tournament have been put on hold, owing to the coronavirus.
