The management of the Guyana/Suriname Ferry Service on Wednesday afternoon announced that the MB Sandaka will be making one trip on Thursday to return Guyanese who are stranded in Suriname and Surinamese who are stranded in Guyana since it’s the suspension.

A notice from the Ministry of Public Infrastructure on Wednesday noted that “the vessel will depart Moleson Creek at 09:00hrs on Thursday. Check-in commences at 06:30hrs – 08:00hrs.

The service was abruptly suspended in light of the spread of the novel coronavirus.

“Guyanese are asked to make a special effort to take advantage of this opportunity.”

Upon arrival in Guyana, Port Health Officials will be present to screen each passenger.

The Guyana Government initially made requests for the vessel to make the trip on Wednesday but Surinamese authorities indicated that they will not be reopening their South Drain Port until all necessary quarantine facilities are put in place to receive Nationals of Suriname and individuals with Surinamese resident stamp.
