Nick Skeete was on Thursday convicted by a 12-member jury for the rape of a 20-year-old old woman between July 8-9, 2016 in Lethem, Region Nine.
Skeete known as ‘Jason Blair’ and ‘Shatta’ was on trial alongside John Lee Edmond before Justice Jo-Ann Barlow at the Georgetown High Court but the jury found Edmond not guilty of the offence and convicted Skeete.
Skeete was remanded to prison until April 6, 2020, when he will be sentenced.
The State was represented by prosecutors Teriq Mohammed and Tiffani Lyken while Skeete was represented by Attorney-at-law Ravindra Mohabir and Edmond was represented by Maxwell McKay.
It is the State’s case that the victim was in a taxi heading home when the driver was attacked. The young woman was dragged from the car and raped.
