A 39-year-old driver of Non-Pariel, East Coast Demerara (ECD) is said to be in a stable condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital after he lost control of a fully-loaded cement truck on the Happy Acres Public Road on Saturday.

Police said that Kwasi Hykes was speeding east along Felicity Public Road in GVV 301 and lost control of the truck when he negotiated a turn in the vicinity of Happy Acres.

As a result, the truck which was loaded with Ready-mix cement, turned turtle several times to the northern side, hitting the rails and then crashing into the concrete fence of a private citizen.

The driver was the only person in the truck; he was extracted from the wrecked vehicle and taken to the hospital.
