Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of 44-year-old Hanuman Jadunauth called ‘Anil’ or ‘Bacoo’, a fish vendor of Lot 16 Swan Street in Pouderoyen, West Bank Demerara.
Regional Commander, Assistant Commissioner Simon McBean told the News Room that the man’s body was discovered early Tuesday at the corner of Swan Street, not too far from where he lived.
The body had two wounds.
“Based on the wounds it is suspected to be inflicted by someone else so far, we have an open investigation and we haven’t ruled out murder,” the Commander said.
Jadunauth was last seen about 17:00hrs Monday.
According to the Commander, a relative who works with Jadunauth was going to his house Tuesday and observed a body lying at the corner of the street at about 05:00hrs.
Upon closer investigation the relative recognized Jadunauth and raised an alarm.
The Police were called to the scene and the body was subsequently taken to the West Demerara Regional Hospital where Jadunauth was pronounced dead.
