COVID-19: Ocean View hotel being prepared as Gov’t looks to meet 1,000-bed capacity

The Government is examining the Ocean View hotel, East Coast Demerara for it to be used as a dedicated medical facility for persons confirmed to be carrying the COVID-19 disease, Prime Minister Moses Nagamootoo said Saturday afternoon.

Other facilities, such as the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall and the National Gymnasium are also being considered as the government looks to prepare 1,000 beds for confirmed cases.

Nagamotoo heads the National COVID-19 Task Force.

The Minister of Public Health has said that the Ocean View facility will have 300 beds for critical patients.

He said that the building situated at High and Princess Streets is also being looked at.
