Nine persons who recovered from COVID-19 cleared to return home
The Ministry of Public Health has cleared nine persons to return home after they successfully recovered from the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).
The persons who are all connected to Guyana’s first confirmed case are likely to be discharged from the quarantine facility in Region Three on Tuesday.
Guyana’s first confirmed case on March 11 was a 52-year-old woman of Good Hope, East Coast Demerara (ECD) who had recently travelled from the United States of America.
Among her family members who later tested positive for the disease on March 14 and has now recovered is her son Suraj Baboolall. Baboolall told the News Room that himself and eight family members have all tested negative for the disease after more than 14 days in isolation.
Upon returning home, the family will be required to stay indoors to prevent re-infection with the disease.
Guyana has so far confirmed 31 positive cases of the disease and five deaths.
