While many players and sporting staff have had to contend with pay cuts in some parts of the world, the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) has committed to continuing paying its players and staff, at least up until the end of May.

That’s according to Secretary of the GCB, Anand Sanasie.

“Our players and staff have all been sent off on extended leave with full salaries, something we intend to have in effect until the end of May, at which time a further assessment would be done,” Sanasie stated.

The Academy players, Sanasie added, would also be paid their full salaries during this period.

In the interim, the Cricket West Indies Director said they “will continue to monitor every player to ensure they adhere to individual fitness programmes so that at the end of this, they can easily return to the rigours of a professional athlete.”

Currently, all on-field cricket related activities have been suspended across the country, due to the coronavirus pandemic.
