An Eastern Airlines flight to Miami, arranged by the U.S. Embassy here, is scheduled to leave Cheddi Jagan International Airport next Tuesday and those who wish to travel are urged to contact the airline.

The flight leaves at 16:30hrs on Tuesday, April 14. The website details are: https://goeasternair.com/.

“In recent days the British High Commission has been working closely with the Embassy of the United States of America who have arranged this flight.

“We strongly recommend that you take this opportunity if you can. Further flights from Guyana are unlikely in the short term,” said Gregg Quinn, the British High Commissioner to Guyana in a Facebook post.

He said, however, that persons will not be able to transit the USA if they have been to the UK, European Union Schengen Area or the Republic of Ireland in the last 14 days. These persons, he said, would require an ESTA to travel.

The cost of the ESTA is US$14 and you can apply for this at https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/

Quinn pointed out that those who take the flight to Miami would need to book onward connections from there.

“You should be aware that this is a commercial arrangement and as such we cannot be responsible for delays or cancellations that might take place.

“We will, of course, let you know without delay should we hear anything that might impact your journey,” Quinn stated.
