Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 64-year-old woman whose body was found at around 05:00hrs Friday on the roadway at Third Street West Meten-Meer-Zorg, West Coast Demerara, not far from her house.
Dead is Dhanrajie Umraoe known as ‘Jameela,’ who resided alone at lot 86 Meten-Meer-Zorg.
The woman’s body was discovered by residents in the area and it remained there for more than an hour before it was removed by undertakers from a funeral home.
She was pronounced dead on arrival at the Leonora Hospital.
The News Room understands that Umraoe visited a friend’s house Thursday afternoon at around 17:00hrs to test her blood pressure and then went home.
On Friday morning, Police found a gift bag next to her body containing her pressure kit.
Police did not find any marks of violence on the body. A post mortem is expected to be performed soon.
