Suspects on motorcycle crash after fleeing from cops; found with shotgun, live cartridges

Two men are in Police custody after they crashed their motorcycle while attempting to escape from a Police patrol along the No 72 Village, Corentyne, Berbice road on Wednesday night.

Police Headquarters revealed that Police observed the suspects acting suspiciously but when the ranks approached them, the suspects escaped and in the process collided with motorcycle CJ 8979 driven by Nicholas Boyce and pillion rider Rockford Hinds.

The four men all fell onto the roadway and a haversack which Police said were in the possession of the suspects was found containing an unlicensed single barrel shotgun and fifteen live cartridges.

The pillion rider was arrested while the other suspect managed to escape the lawmen.

The other cyclist and pillion rider of CJ 8979 were escorted to the Skeldon Public Hospital where Hinds was treated and sent away and Boyce transferred to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital and admitted but later discharged.

The other suspect who initially escaped turned himself in at the Springlands Police Station hours later.
