Police hunt businessman who allegedly shot and killed labourer

Police are hunting for a businessman who fatally shot a labourer at his shop on Wednesday.

According to a police statement, Barnwell ‘Barnie’ Thomas whose age and address is unknown, was at the shop at Tamakay Farback Backdam, Middle Mazaruni River imbibing.

At around 21:00hrs, a loud explosion was heard and Thomas walked out of the shop and told persons that the shop owner shot him.

He collapsed minutes later and died.

A suspected gunshot wound was seen in the region of his stomach, police said,

The body was escorted to Bartica as investigation continues.
