Marijuana farm with 5,000 plants destroyed in Berbice River

Ranks of the Guyana Police Force on Saturday, conducted a narcotics eradication operation at Ebeni, Berbice River during which they found and destroyed approximately one and a half acres of cannabis cultivation with about 5,000 plants ranging from 12 inches to four feet in height.

Police Headquarters said a camp and a nursery with an estimated 3,000 seedlings were also destroyed.

A large plot of land was also observed to have been prepared for cultivation.

No arrest was made; the exercise lasted for more than ten hours.
