Prisoners escaped by jumping fence; discovered missing two hours later

As the manhunt continues for four prisoners, Prison Director Gladwin Samuels revealed that the four escapees jumped the eastern fence of the Lusignan Holding Bay on the East Coast of Demerara.

In a press statement Monday, Samuels said that the escape took place at about 03:46hrs Monday “during very heavy rainfall.”

The men were discovered missing during roll-call at 06:15hrs when they did not answer to their names.

“The relevant CCTV footage has been examined, and the Guyana Police Force alerted.

“The ranks on duty at the material time have been interviewed and are cooperating fully. So far, no rank has been found culpable,” Samuels said.

Those on the run are: 26-year-old Anthony Padmore who was serving three years imprisonment for trafficking cannabis and his last known address is Ogle Street, Beterverwagting, East Coast Demerara; 26-year-old Kenraul Perez who was on remand for murder and his last known address is Mabaruma, North West District; 24-year-old Sasnarine Bisnauth of lot 22 Tuschen Housing Scheme East Bank Essequibo who was on remand for armed robberies and 32-year-old Ganesh Dhanraj of Façade Parika, East Bank Essequibo. He was on remand for murder.
