Two dead, driver critical following Bagotstown accident

Two men were on Sunday night killed in an accident on the Bagotstown public road, East Bank Demerara (EBD) while the driver of the motorcar is hospitalized in a critical condition.

According to a statement from the Police, 19-year-old Courtney Marcus of lot 11 Peter’s Hall, EBD and 20-year-old Ronaldo Simmons of lot 15 Azore Street, Peter’s Hall were travelling in motorcar #PVV 7570, driven by 29-year-old Steven Roberts of Republic Park, EBD.

At around 21:15hrs on Sunday, the car was speeding along the eastern side of Bagotstown public road when the right side front of the vehicle collided with the concrete median which separates the lanes.

As a result of the impact, the driver lost control of the vehicle which careened into a concrete fence situated on the eastern side of the road and came to a halt after it slammed into a utility pole.

The driver, Marcus and Simmons received severe injuries about their bodies and were taken out of the vehicle in an unconscious state by public-spirited citizens and rushed to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre.

Marcus and Simmons were pronounced dead on arrival while the driver was transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) where he is admitted suffering from a punctured right lung, broken ribs and head injuries.
