Police are on the hunt for a man identified as ‘Smokey’ who allegedly burnt his Venezuelan lover to the face with a cigarette, beat her with a cutlass and chopped her to the head in the wee hours of Thursday at Aranka Landing, Cuyuni River, Region Seven.
The 37-year-old victim is in a stable condition at the hospital. Police Headquarters said the couple have been in a relationship for a month now and at around 01:12 hrs Thursday, they were consuming alcohol when an argument ensued.
‘Smokey’ reportedly burnt the woman with a lighted cigarette to her face and in retaliation, she hit him with a beer bottle.
The man then picked up a cutlass and dealt her several lashes to the body and chopped her to the head before he escaped.
A report was made to the Aranka Police Station.
