73 COVID-19 cases now confirmed

As of April 24, Guyana recorded three more cases of the new Coronavirus in less than 24 hours, bringing the total number to 73 known cases.

Of this total, there are seven deaths and 12 persons have since recovered.

The Public Health Ministry revealed Friday that five persons remain in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Georgetown Public Hospital.

To date, 410 persons have been tested of whom 337 are negative.

There are 17 persons in institutional quarantine and 54 in isolation.

The Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit has reported for the period under review March 16 to April 24t, 2020 793 persons have been on home quarantine and to date, 596 persons have completed their 14 days quarantine and they were cleared by the Health Emergency Operations Centre.

As such, 197 persons continue to be monitored.
