Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Public Health Colette Adams on Friday denied claims that some health workers have not yet been paid for the month of April.

Adams, in a telephone comment to the News Room, said the Ministry paid staff on April 24, 2020; salaries were expected to be paid on April 20.

She added that those who have not been paid need to check with the Accounts Department of the Ministry.

The News Room understands that staff of the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) received their monthly salaries last week and staff of the National Blood Bank were paid on Friday, but those who work at the Ministry, the West Demerara Regional Hospital and some other agencies have not received their salaries.

One nurse told the News Room that the Ministry has been paying their staff late since the start of the year.
