    Corentyne man remanded to prison on multiple break and enter charges

    A 31-year-old labourer of Number 57 Village, East Berbice Corentyne was remanded to prison Friday by Senior Magistrate Alex Moore after he pleaded not guilty to three counts of break and enter and larceny this month.

    Mahendra Rambarran called ‘Vicky’ appeared at the Number 51 Magistrate’s Court on Friday where the charges were read by Moore via Skype.

    It is alleged that between April 17-18, he broke and entered the dwelling home of businessman Gansham Totaram of Number 57 Village and stole US$4, 000 and a number of alcoholic beverages valued $101,000.

    Between April 10-11, it is alleged he broke and entered the home of George Narine of No.52 Village Corentyne and carted off with groceries and household items valued $150,000.

    Further, between April 17-18, Rambarran allegedly stole one TCL 32-inch television set valued $63,000 and groceries valued $194,000, the property of Rita Khan of No. 57 Village.

    He was remanded to prison until June 4, 2020.
