Two men were granted bail in the sum of $100,000 each by Magistrate Renita Singh on Friday after they pleaded not guilty to robbery with violence.

Rawle Park, 49, a Cane Harvester of Lancaster Village and 37-year-old Balram Sukraj, a fisherman of the same village, appeared at the Whim Magistrate’s Court where the Magistrate read the charge via Skype.

They are accused of attacking 29-year-old Robindra Hansrajua known as ‘Vicky’ – a NIS officer who was on his way home from work on April 20 at around 21:30hrs.

The News Room understands that the young man of Liverpool Village was walking on the Whim Public Road when he was attacked from behind by three men who were armed with cutlasses and wood.

He was choked, thrown to the ground and beaten.

The attackers stole his iPhone 6 plus valued at $80,000, a gold chain valued $30,000 and $25,000 in cash.

The duo will return to court on June 6, 2020.
