China donates protective gear to help Guyana fight COVID-19
The People’s Republic of China on Monday donated 500 protective face masks, 500 Protective Personal Equipment (PPE) and 100 infrared thermometers along with 500 medical goggles, 500 pairs of disposable gloves and 500 isolation shoe covers to the Ministry of Public Health.
Deputy Chief of Mission in Guyana Mr Chen Xilai handed over the items to Permanent Secretary Collette Adams, according to a press release from the Ministry.
According to the Health Ministry, the relationship between Guyana and China dates back to 1972 and Xilai wants the two friendly nations to “work together” to win the battle against the deadly pandemic.
“He assured PS Adams that Guyana can look forward to more donations in the COVID-19 fight from his country.”
There is “more to come” Xilai promised, according to the Public Health Ministry.
