Senior cop among three injured in Essequibo accident

An accident between two cars on the Johanna Ceceila Public Road, Essequibo Coast Thursday afternoon resulted in the hospitalisation of 33-year-old Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Colin Primus and a 47-year-old woman identified as Jackline Daniels.

Police Headquarters said that the ASP, who is the Officer -in -charge of the Richard Faikall Police Training College on the Essequibo Coast, suffered a fractured right foot and a laceration to his head while Daniels is in a serious condition with neck and back injuries.

According to the Police statement, Daniels and her husband Tariq Baksh were in hire car HB 9504 speeding south along the eastern roadway while the ASP was driving PVV 9556 in the opposite direction.

The ASP told the Police that he put on his indicator to turn right and in the process of doing so, Baksh collided with the left front portion of his vehicle.

The ASP’s vehicle spun clockwise and ended up on the western parapet.

As a result of the impact, the trio received injuries and was taken to the Suddie Hospital.

Police said Baksh suffered “trauma to his head and pains about the body”; he was discharged.
